Faces and Flowers - Newel Hunter

Faces and Flowers by Newel Hunter Painting 24.0 x 18.0 :: Painted on an 18 x 24 x .5 inch canvas Faces and Flowers is a perfect example of Hunter’s fluid and uniquely expressive style -- which so often results in arresting images with a sense of depth and sculptural form. The artwork is a monochromatic abstract composition predominantly in shades of black white and grey. It features an array of textured faces and forms that interact fluidly across the canvas creating a sense of organic movement. The piece balances contrasting elements—dense crusted areas with rough textures and smoother flowing patches. Notably a swirling circular floral formation on the right side draws the eye with its intricate marbling of light and dark tones standing out against the more diffuse and spattered regions. The overall effect evokes a mysterious almost cosmic landscape with a strong emphasis on texture and tonal variation.
