Fabulous Antique Star Brooch Made of Turquoise, Pearls & Gold, Circa 1895

Celestial bodies were among the most popular jewellery motifs in Victorian England. Whether crescent moons, suns or stars, they were all found on the décolletés and blouses of the ladies, set in diamonds for the evening and in gold for the day. This brooch is a particularly splendid example of this type of jewelry. Shimmering, particularly high-quality natural pearls and sky-blue cabochon-cut turquoise cover the entire surface of the large star. Both gemstones were favorites of the Victorian era and were often set in warm yellow gold, as is the case here. This color combination was intended for daytime wear in particular, and even today the star makes you dream of balmy summer nights at any time of year. We discovered the star in London. It is very well preserved and an impressively beautiful piece of jewellery history!
