TITLE Fabrizio De André – In Concerto, Arrangiamenti PFM – Original 1979 Italian First Edition – Ricordi SMRL 6244 – LP with Original Booklet DESCRIPTION Splendid and complete original 1979 Italian edition of “Fabrizio De André in concerto – Arrangiamenti PFM”, one of the most important and sought-after live albums in the great Genoese singer-songwriter’s discography. The album documents the historic artistic collaboration between Fabrizio De André and Premiata Forneria Marconi. PFM rearranged some of De André’s most celebrated compositions, transforming them through exceptionally rich rock and progressive arrangements. This collaboration represents a landmark in Italian music: De André’s poetic and narrative songwriting was combined with PFM’s expressive power and technical sophistication, giving a completely new musical dimension to songs that have since become classics. The performances were recorded live at the Teatro Tenda in Florence and the Palasport in Bologna on 13, 14, 15 and 16 January 1979, using the Manor Mobile Recording Studio operated by Virgin Records of London. The album was mixed in February 1979 at Il Mulino Studio in Milan by Franco Mussida. EDITION DETAILS * Artist: Fabrizio De André * Title: In concerto – Arrangiamenti PFM * Label: Dischi Ricordi * Catalogue number: SMRL 6244 * Country of release: Italy * Year: 1979 * Format: Vinyl LP, 33⅓ RPM, stereo * Edition: Original 1979 Italian first edition * Labels: Original orange-and-white Ricordi labels * Sleeve: Gatefold * Insert: Original photographic booklet The following matrix numbers are printed on the record labels: * Side 1: S-6244/1 * Side 2: S-6244/2 The following inscriptions are engraved in the runout, also known as the dead wax: “5-10-79” “SMRL – 6244” These inscriptions are particularly interesting to collectors, as they place this copy among the original Ricordi pressings produced in 1979. The engraved date, 5 October 1979, most likely refers to the preparation or cutting of the matrix. This is therefore an original Italian first edition from 1979, belonging to the period in which the album was originally produced. For complete bibliographical accuracy, it is not described as the absolute earliest pressing because the album was initially released in May 1979. ORIGINAL PHOTOGRAPHIC BOOKLET This copy retains its important original booklet, an insert that is frequently missing from copies currently available on the collectors’ market. The booklet is richly illustrated with black-and-white photographs by Guido Harari. It contains concert photographs, backstage images, informal moments featuring De André and the members of PFM, as well as reproductions of contemporary newspaper articles concerning the tour. It also contains “Blues di altra data”, a handwritten text by Fabrizio De André dedicated to Patrick Djivas and dated 28 January 1979. This is an especially fascinating detail and one highly appreciated by collectors. TRACK LISTING SIDE 1 1. Bocca di Rosa – 4:32 2. Andrea – 5:24 3. Giugno ’73 – 4:24 4. Un giudice – 3:23 5.
