Toutes les enchères / Ethnographie / EXCEPTIONAL SAPPHIRE RED-ORANGE INTENSE - GEM QUALITY SRI...

Exceptional natural rough Sri Lankan crystal, remarkable for its deeply saturated red color, glassy luster, and transparency Magnificent natural rough sapphire from Sri Lanka (Ceylon), weighing 0.42 carats with dimensions 5.2 × 3.2 × 3 mm. This specimen immediately stands out for an extremely intense and luminous red color, developing, depending on orientation and lighting, superb nuances ranging from scarlet red to deep red, with occasionally bright red-orange tones. The stone possesses a remarkable visual presence: despite its millimetric dimensions, its strong chromatic saturation, transparent zones, and the many reflections generated by its natural surface give it a particularly spectacular appearance under direct illumination. A spectacular red color The major feature of this specimen lies in its extraordinary chromatic expression. The crystal shows a red dominance that is very highly saturated, especially vivid on its edges and in its most transparent parts. Some areas appear almost scarlet under intense light, while the thicker parts develop a deeper red. This natural variation in tonality creates real visual depth and allows the stone to change its appearance considerably depending on its orientation. Under point illumination, light penetrates into certain parts of the crystal and produces a particularly striking luminous effect, giving the color a sense of depth and incandescence. Transparency and gem-quality The stone shows very interesting zones that are transparent to translucent, allowing light to penetrate into the heart of the material. This transparency, combined with the intensity of the color, is especially aesthetic. The clearest zones reveal the internal structure of the crystal, while the parts with more textures diffuse the light and generate a multitude of tiny flashes. Its strong glassy luster is clearly visible on the various natural surfaces of the specimen. A rich and authentic rough morphology The crystal is offered in its natural rough state, unfaceted. Its irregular morphology is particularly interesting under magnification: the surface presents a succession of reliefs, textures, small cavities and reflective surfaces that directly attest to its geological history. The numerous microstructures visible on the surface catch the light in different ways and create a remarkable contrast between the deep red zones, the brighter parts, and the almost silvery reflections. Thus, it is not only a colored gem but also a true mineralogical specimen, whose natural morphology is an essential part of its interest. Characteristics Mineral: Natural Corundum – Sapphire Provenance: Sri Lanka (Ceylon) Weight: 0.42 carat Dimensions: 5.2 × 3.2 × 3 mm Color: Intense red Nuances: Deep orange, with variation depending on lighting Transparency: Transparent to translucent depending on zones Luster: Vitreous, very bright Shape: Natural rough crystal Condition: Unfaceted Quality: Gem quality Type: Natural collection gemstone A historical provenance: Ceylon Sri Lanka, historically called Ceylon, is world-renowned for its gemstone deposits and especially for its corundums. Gems from this origin have occupied a major place in the history of the gemstone trade for centuries. Owning a rough crystal from this region also allows appreciation of the material in a state far closer to its natural presentation. This specimen thus unites emblematic provenance, spectacular color, and natural morphology, three characteristics particularly interesting for a collection of rough gemstones. A remarkable collector’s piece With 0.42 carats and a length of 5.2 mm, this stone offers a very nice presence for a rough crystal in a collection.
