European school (XX) - Scena di gatti domestici

With frame 30x36cm Without frame 18x24cm The painting depicted in the image is a work of art in a classical style from the 19th/20th century, focused on scenes of cats, strongly inspired by or executed in the style of the famous animal painters of the Victorian era and European genre painting. Details of the Work • Subject: The scene portrays three fluffy-looking kittens with large expressive eyes positioned on a piece of fabric in bright red. In the foreground, in front of them, there is a small yellow flower, freshly cut, a classic narrative element inserted to emphasize the curiosity and playfulness typical of kittens. • Style and Influence: This genre of painting closely follows the renowned artistic tradition of the Dutch-Belgian painter Henriëtte Ronner-Knip and the French painter Alfred Arthur Brunel de Neuville, both famous for their close, intimate, and detail-rich portraits of domestic cats and kittens in warm, dark indoor settings. • Frame: The painting is set in a rich gilt frame, decorated with raised floral motifs and geometric engravings (leaves and volutes), typical of gallery frames from the late 19th century or the first half of the 20th century, designed to enhance the warm tones of the oil. • Signature: At the bottom right is visible the artist's signature in script, which seems to bear the name N. Winston or a similar inscription, indicating the hand of a painter specialized in this academic or interior genre.
