Ethiopian Crystal Opal – an exceptional natural specimen...

This impressive crystal opal natural specimen from Ethiopia captivates with its extraordinary transparency, the warm, subtly honey-green to olive-brown base color, and a particularly lively play-of-color. Within the transparent to translucent opal body unfolds a fascinating blaze of color—intense green, glowing blue, rich orange, yellow, and fiery red—that, depending on the incidence of light and viewing angle, repeatedly reveals new color zones. Especially impressive are the large orange-red color flashes in the lower and middle areas, interwoven with intense green and individual electric blues, giving the piece extraordinary optical depth. The natural rough form with its characteristic irregular outer contour and the clearly preserved areas of the matrix or host rock emphasize the original character of this specimen. At the same time, selected areas have been carefully smoothed and polished, making the underlying opal structure stand out even more and causing the play of color to seem to radiate from inside the stone. Through the combination of transparent opal substance, natural matrix, pronounced depth, and an exceptionally intense play of color, it is a highly decorative and distinctive collector's item for lovers of high-quality Welo and crystal opals. A particularly fascinating natural piece whose effect reveals itself especially under targeted lighting and presents a different play of colors with every change of viewing angle—from deep neon green to turquoise and blue to spectacular fire colors in orange, yellow, and red.
