Escuela Impresionista Europea (XX) - Paseos a caballo

Title: Horseback Rides ㅤ School: European School (early 20th century) ㅤ Style: Romantic-influenced Impressionism ㅤ Medium: Oil on canvas ㅤ Condition: Condition in keeping with its age. The frame shows signs of wear and aging in its gilded finish. ㅤ Circle and artistic influence: A work stylistically linked to the European landscape tradition of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, with influences from English Romanticism and the Barbizon School. The equestrian theme and the atmospheric treatment of the landscape recall the compositions of artists such as John Constable and the French landscape painters associated with Romantic Naturalism. The freedom of brushwork and the prominence of light also show affinities with European Impressionism. ㅤ The painting depicts an equestrian scene in a wooded environment, where two riders advance along a dirt path surrounded by abundant vegetation. One of them, wearing a striking red jacket, rides a white horse that stands out against the dark tones of the landscape, while the second rider, in dark attire, rides a brown-toned horse. ㅤ The composition presents an intimate and mysterious atmosphere, created through a palette of deep greens, earth tones, and ochres. The vegetation envelops the figures, while bursts of light illuminating the path add depth and dynamism. The loose, expressive brushwork conveys a sense of movement and spontaneity. ㅤ The work is presented in an imposing Rococo-inspired ornate frame, with abundant vegetal reliefs, floral motifs and volutes. Its aged gilded finish, in warm tones, gives the whole piece a stately and decorative character. ㅤ Observations: The artwork may incur damage during transport even with proper packaging.
