Title: Saint Madonna ㅤ School: Italian Baroque School (18th century) ㅤ Style: Devotional Baroque ㅤ Technique: Oil on canvas ㅤ Condition: Shows minor craquelure and restorations, as well as signs of aging consistent with its age. ㅤ Circle and artistic influence: The work is framed within the Italian devotional tradition of late Baroque, especially related to representations of the Virgin of Sorrows and Marian iconography of the Counter-Reformation. The frontal pose, the dark background, and the solemnity of the figure comply with religious models disseminated during the 17th and 18th centuries. ㅤ Representation of the Virgin dressed in a wide dark mantle decorated with golden motifs, a light tunic, and a crown. The figure occupies almost the entire pictorial space in a practically frontal manner, standing out against a deeply dark background. The inclined face and the gathered attitude convey contained pain, spirituality, and contemplation. ㅤ Antique molded wood frame with an aged gilded finish, simple and in keeping with the religious nature and the chronology of the work. ㅤ Notes: ㅤ The work, due to its age, shows restorations. ㅤ The work may incur damage during transport even with proper packaging.
