EPP, RUDOLF (1834-1910) "Bauernmädchen am Spinnrad"

Öl auf Leinwand. Signiert unten rechts: R. Epp. In gutem, altersgemäßem Zustand. Restauriert. | EPP, RUDOLF (1834–1910), “Peasant Girl at the Spinning Wheel” Oil on canvas. Signed lower right: R. Epp. H x W: 80 x 60 cm (91 x 70 cm including frame). The work fits seamlessly into the characteristic oeuvre of Rudolf Epp, a prominent representative of the Munich School, known for his finely observed, intimate genre scenes depicting rural life. The present painting depicts a young peasant girl in traditional costume seated at a spinning wheel in the interior of a farmhouse room. With a sensitive eye for lighting and textures, the artist captures the domestic setting: softly falling light highlights the features of the sitter and accentuates the handcrafted details of the wooden spinning wheel and the spun yarn. Typical of Epp’s work is the successful synthesis of academic realism and a narrative, idyllic atmosphere. The muted, earthy color palette reinforces the intimate mood of the room. In good condition commensurate with age. The canvas shows some minor signs of aging as well as isolated small areas of paint loss. Restored. SHIPPING TO THE USA MUST BE ARRANGED BY THE BUYER.
