Toutes les enchères / Autres / Enrique Castillo Villuendas (1890-1957) - Goodbye, Summer!
- Oil on panel. Adhered to cardboard. - In this 1929 still life, Castrillo Villuendas orchestrates an elegant farewell to summer where the earth’s opulence is tinged with a subtle drama, inherited directly from the grand tenebrist tradition of the Spanish Golden Age. The plump watermelon cut open along the length, with its flesh crimson and gleaming, shares the stage with the melancholic presence of the last ripe figs and two dense clusters of grapes that seem to concentrate all the remaining sweetness of the season. But it is the light — mystical, overhead, and rough — that transforms this gathering of fruit into an authentic vanitas of the 20th century: a chiaroscuro with Spanish roots that caresses the wrinkled skin of the fruit and the moisture of its seeds to remind us of the ephemerality of sensory pleasure. With a sober, artifice-free restraint, the composition not only celebrates the exuberance of the autumn market but captures that suspended moment when the fullness of summer gently yields to the cold, scented by the memory of death and the passage of time. - Image dimensions without frame: 45 x 31 cm / 64 x 50 cm with exclusive custom-made frame. At Montbaron Gallery, we are pleased to offer our clients an exclusive selection of artworks, all of them unique, original and unrepeatable. Each piece in our gallery results from profound dedication, a creative vision and masterful technique, characteristics that guarantee its authenticity. The works we sell are not industrial reproductions; they are pieces created individually by recognized artists, each with its own story and essence. Originality underpins our commitment to excellence, and therefore every painting or sculpture that is part of our collection is carefully selected to ensure its uniqueness. Acquiring a work from Montbaron Gallery means owning an unreproducible piece, an investment in creativity and talent that over time will preserve both its artistic and emotional value. We are proud to offer works that not only beautify spaces but also connect our clients with the richness of human expression through authentic art. Thus, we guarantee that every work that leaves our gallery is a one-of-a-kind piece in the world, with no replicas, and a testament to the innovation and passion of the artists we work with. Certain lots, due to their age and value, require an export permit granted by the Ministry of Culture. Although this is an administrative procedure, it is essential to ensure the authenticity of the work and its free circulation internationally. Montbaron Gallery is committed to offering its clients original, unique and unrepeatable artworks, guaranteeing the authenticity and quality of each piece in our collection. To ensure transparency and trust in every purchase, we offer a digital Certificate of Guarantee, signed by a certified art historian. This certificate attests that the purchased work has been authenticated by our specialists, who verify its authorship, origin and state of conservation. The Certificate of Guarantee includes full details about the piece, such as its author, creation date, technique used, and dimensions. The digital Certificate of Guarantee will be issued upon the client’s request, providing an official reference for the purchased piece. This document will be sent in digital format and will be signed by an art historian from our gallery, ensuring its validity and backing. We are committed to our clients’ satisfaction and confidence, so any questions about the authenticity or condition of the artwork will be addressed professionally and promptly. To request your Certificate of Guarantee, please contact us through our usual channels. Our aim is to offer the best possible service, adapting to each client’s needs and ensuring the artwork arrives at its destination quickly and safely, with no surprises.
