Engagement Ring with a 1.01 ct Diamond (G, VS1) in Yellow Gold, Made

The classic solitaire ring—that is, a ring with a single diamond—was popularized by a design created by the jeweler Tiffany & Co. in 1886. To this day, this style of ring has remained the epitome of the engagement ring: it embodies all the symbolic power one could expect from a piece of jewellery that carries a promise. The solitaire ring presented here was created on our behalf. At its center is a very good-quality diamond featuring a modern brilliant cut. The stone weighs 1.01 ct and has been graded as Rare White (G) and VS1. It therefore contains very small natural inclusions in the form of the finest dots distributed throughout the stone, which, however, do not diminish its brilliance. In fact, they are not visible without a loupe. Its proportions, symmetry, and polish are all excellent. An independent appraisal of the brilliant-cut diamond by the Gemmological Institute of America (GIA) is included with the ring. The ring is a classic one-carat ring. Brilliant-cut diamonds weighing exactly 1.00 ct and only slightly more—but under no circumstances slightly less—are considered “one-carat” diamonds. This standard—actually a weight of exactly 0.2 grams—has become established as the benchmark for the classic engagement ring: The stone is prominent, yet neither too large nor too small—in short, just the right size! We manufactured the ring entirely in Germany. The setting was cast for us in Pforzheim, finished in Berlin, and the diamond was set into the ring in Idar-Oberstein. We sustainably sourced the gold for the ring from antique pieces of jewellery. This is the first time this diamond has been set in a piece of jewellery.
