EGYPTIAN BRONZE AND STONE MUMMY EYES

Late to Roman period, ca. 664 BC - AD 200. A pair of bronze and stone mummy eyes, each with an almond-shaped bronze frame enclosing a pale stone sclera and a broad dark stone iris. The upper contour is arched, with the lower line extending laterally into a long cosmetic line. For similar see: National Museum of Liverpool, Inventory number 24.9.00.73.
