Toutes les enchères / Autres / École Européene (XVIII) - Gloire du Enfant Jesus dans une Guirlande - XL format
- Oil on canvas. Relined canvas. Restorations. - In the plastic hives of Baroque Antwerp, the guilds’ collaborative practice rose to the level of calculated virtuosity, turning division of labor into one of the aesthetic summits of 17th-century Europe. Under the orchestral baton of Peter Paul Rubens, Flemish painting refined the fascinating typology of the “devotional garland,” an exquisite cooperation exercise where specialization brushes up against the miraculous: while Rubens or his most advanced pupils traced with a clear yet fleshy brushstroke the central figure —a Virgin with the Child, a resurrected Christ, or a saint in rapture— botanical masters like Jan Brueghel the Elder unpack around it a hyperreal swarm of tulips, hundred-leaf roses, lilies, and tiny insects that seemed to exude dew on the wood. These works were not mere market products, but a refined theological and cosmetic strategy of the Counter-Reformation; a perfect marriage between sacred fervor and Sibarita collectorship where the dramatic roundness of the human figure was framed and elevated by the sensory triumph of the still life, demonstrating that in Antwerp of the corporations the genius of the individual gained its most sublime dimension by joining others’ mastery. - Dimensiones de la imagen sin marco: 75 x 101 cm / 85 x 110.5 cm con exclusivo marco a medida.
