Pérez Lezcano Technique: Acrylic technique on canvas Dimensions: 70x100 cm Presentation: The work is shipped without a frame, carefully packaged in a rigid cardboard tube for maximum protection. COA: Includes a hand-signed certificate of authenticity by the artist. In Blue Metropolis, the artist builds a scene of deep urban sensitivity in which two female figures emerge against the profile of a city, establishing a dialogue between human intimacy and the geometry of the metropolitan environment. Their faces, elongated, with serene and slightly enigmatic expressions, approach each other to form an almost indivisible presence. The inclusion of a stringed instrument introduces a musical dimension that softens the monumentality of the shapes and turns the scene into a poetic evocation of urban life. The composition is organized around an essentially vertical structure, where the two figures occupy the center of the pictorial surface and establish a balance through the superposition of their silhouettes. The faces, built with asymmetrical planes and defined contours, contrast with the rectangular shapes that suggest buildings and architectural structures in the background. The mandolin, placed in the foreground, introduces a curved geometry that interrupts the rigidity of the vertical lines, providing movement and a visual transition between the two protagonists. The chromatic treatment is one of the most expressive aspects of the work. The deep blue of the background functions as a unifying element, creating an enveloping atmosphere on which the luminous whites of the faces, the soft greens, and the warm accents of red, orange, and yellow stand out. The distribution of color establishes a balanced tension between cool and warm surfaces, while the deep blacks of the urban silhouette reinforce the structural composition. The brushwork alternates dense, defined pigment applications with more liberated strokes, particularly visible in the background and in the color planes of the garments, adding texture and a pictorial vibrancy that enriches the formal synthesis. Through its interpretation of contemporary cubism, the artist transforms the double portrait into an exploration of identity, proximity, and shared space. The fragmentation of the faces and the reorganization of the volumes allow representing different perspectives within a single visual unity. This construction does not pursue mere geometric experimentation, but rather establishes a correspondence between the city’s architecture and the very structure of the figures, as if both belong to the same visual organism. Blue Metropolis proposes a reflection on human presence within the contemporary city, where music and closeness acquire an intimate value against the immensity of the urban landscape. The work finds its singularity in the contrast between the apparent stillness of the protagonists and the chromatic intensity of their surroundings, turning geometry into a language capable of conveying sensitivity, belonging, and connection. A composition in which the city ceases to be a mere setting and becomes an essential part of the characters’ pictorial identity.
