E. García - Vacaciones XL

VACACIONES is a 70x100 cm painting by contemporary artist Ernest García. A woman sleeps deeply among cushions of different colors, left to rest in a free and relaxed pose. The body, arranged diagonally on the sofa, conveys the feeling of a time-free pause, while a hat left at her feet suggests a sunny day, travel or escape interrupted by sleep. The scene turns an intimate moment into an image of serenity and enjoyment. The composition is built with a luminous palette of pinks, blues, whites, greens and earth tones. The large cushions, the flowering branches and the porcelain vase create an exuberant interior, where the figure seems to merge with the decorative surroundings. The expressive use of color and the simplification of forms place the work in a sensitivity close to fauvism, figurative expressionism and the tradition of Henri Matisse's interiors. Echos of Pierre Bonnard can also be perceived, for the domestic intimacy, the taste for textiles and the representation of a private moment, as well as a certain closeness to the contemporary figurative work of David Hockney, especially in the use of flat surfaces, light colors and scenes of everyday leisure. The visible brushwork and the bold outlines bring freshness and a modern character to the whole. VACACIONES speaks of the pleasure of stopping, of guilt-free rest and those days when time loses importance. It is a warm and sensual work that celebrates private life, comfort and the beauty of a moment of abandonment, transforming a simple nap into a scene full of color, calm and references to the history of modern painting.
