E. García - El ratón XL (no reserve)

"The Mouse" is a 100 × 70 cm painting by contemporary artist Ernest García. The work presents a singular white mouse turned into the absolute protagonist of an exuberant and fantastic scene, accompanied by a large multi-tiered cake and surrounded by a floral background of intense decorative character. The animal appears elegantly adorned with numerous colorful necklaces, an unexpected detail that grants it an almost aristocratic personality. By its side, the monumental cake is built with layers of roses, yellows, oranges and greens, decorated with small vegetal motifs and free-form shapes that reinforce the playful character of the composition. The palette combines turquoises, greens, coral, pink, yellow and deep blue. The color is used freely and expressively, while the visible brushwork and simplified forms contribute spontaneity. The floral background completely envelops the protagonists and turns the scene into a visual fantasy close to the world of fauvism and to the ornamental richness present in many compositions by Henri Matisse. In "The Mouse", Ernest García transforms a small everyday animal into an extravagant and sophisticated character. The disproportion between the mouse, the jewels and the enormous cake also introduces a component of humor and fantasy that brings the work closer to a naive and contemporary sensibility. "The Mouse" will prove especially attractive to collectors interested in contemporary painting, animals, fauvism, naive art, fantastical scenes, floral painting, expressive color and playful compositions.
