This concerns a very artistic work, an watercolor with a depiction of parrots. The watercolor is doubly signed (bottom left and bottom right) and also dated. The work reminds me of the artist Carl Fahringer 1874-1952, but honestly I wouldn't know who created this beautiful piece. This watercolor is also nicely framed with a Paul Gering frame and equipped with museum glass. In short, a gem in any interior. Carl Fahringer began his education in 1892 at the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts and studied under Sigmund l'Allemand, Christian Griepenkerl and August Eisenmenger. He moved in 1898 to Munich to complete his studies with Carl Marr. Fahringer married Rosina Strobl in 1904, with whom he had a son. In the following years, Carl Fahringer traveled widely, among other places to Italy, the Balkans, Turkey and Egypt. During his travels he painted street scenes, portraits and animals.[5] At the outset of the First World War, Fahringer volunteered for the Austro-Hungarian side and fought on the front in Italy and Galicia. In 1915 Fahringer was employed as a war painter.[5] After the war he resumed traveling, spent a lot of time in the Netherlands and traveled from the Netherlands on several occasions to the Dutch East Indies, where he painted on Java and Bali. In the Netherlands he stayed and painted in, among other places, Hoorn and Delft. Favorite subjects included street and market scenes.[6] His works can be found in various Dutch collections. Besides painting, Fahringer was also an illustrator. He illustrated, among other things, stories by Hedwig von Lepl-Gnitz, such as the book Märchenzauber. In March 1929 Fahringer became a professor at the Vienna Academy and taught there in animal and landscape painting until 1945. He often painted animals in the Vienna Zoo, the Tiergarten Schönbrunn. During World War II Fahringer was deployed as a war correspondent in Greece. After the war he was dismissed from the academy.[5] Carl Fahringer died in 1952 in Vienna at the age of 78.
