Domien of Dominique Van den Bossche (1854-1906) - Statue

Elegant patinated bust in red earthenware of a smiling young woman, created by the Belgian artist Dominique Ernest Van den Bossche (1854–1906), who worked in Ghent and was known for his decorative sculpture and his refined terracotta portrait busts. The artwork is designed in the Art Nouveau style, which is clearly visible in the elegant, flowing natural motifs (such as the upward flower- and stem-forms) that form the base of the bust. Note: The Art Nouveau element (left-front) is broken off (see photo 10); there is some light wear here and there and various chips around the plinth. Furthermore the sculpture is in reasonably good condition, wear commensurate with age and use. Each object is packed with the utmost care and insured shipped.
