Originale "neue für die Mannheimer Bühne verbesserte Auflage", Mannheim, in der Schwanischen Buchhandlung 1782. Das Büchlein ist eine Ausgabe von Schillers Bühnenbearbeitung der "Räuber" von 1782, das am 13. Januar 1782 am Nationaltheater Mannheim uraufgeführt wurde. Schillers erstes Stück firmiert hier als "Trauerspiel" - in den vorherigen Ausgaben (1781,1782) läuft es als "Schauspiel". Im Personenverzeichnis werden die Schauspieler benannt: so heißt die Schauspielerin der Amalia Mlle Baumann und nicht Mlle Toscani, was darauf hinweist, daß es sich nicht um die erste Räuber-Ausgabe für die erste Aufführung handelt, sondern für eine spätere Aufführung mit anderer Besetzung. Das Büchlein hat Alters- und Gebrauchsspuren, der Namenszug auf dem Titelblatt dürfte ein früher Besitzer des Buchs sein. Restauriert wurde das Buch in der renommierten Berliner Hofbuchbinderei W.Collin, die im 19. Jh. bis zum Ende der Monarchie zu den letzten Hofbuchbindern der preußischen Könige und deutschen Kaiser gehörte (Binderstempel auf der Innenseite des Buchdeckels). Frühe und seltene Räuber-Ausgabe, einem der wichtigsten Werke der deutschen Literaturgeschichte. Die Echtheit wurde vom Schiller-Nationalmuseum in Marbach bestätigt. | “The Robbers,” a tragedy by Friedrich Schiller, 1782. This small book is an edition of Schiller’s 1782 stage adaptation of *The Robbers*, which premiered on January 13, 1782, at the National Theater in Mannheim. Schiller’s first play is listed here as a “tragedy”—in previous editions (1781, 1782), it was classified as a “drama.” The cast list names the actors: for example, the actress playing Amalia is listed as Mlle Baumann and not Mlle Toscani, which indicates that this is not the first edition of *The Robbers* for the premiere, but rather for a later performance with a different cast. The booklet shows signs of age and wear; the signature on the title page is likely that of a former owner of the book. The book was restored at the renowned Berlin court bookbindery W. Collin, which from the 19th century until the end of the monarchy was among the last court bookbinders to the Prussian kings and German emperors (bookbinder’s stamp on the inside of the book cover). An early and rare edition of *Die Räuber*, one of the most important works in German literary history. Its authenticity has been confirmed by the Schiller National Museum in Marbach.
