Denton, Texas. $20 1902 Date Back. Fr. 646. Denton County NB. Charter #4708. PCGS Banknote About Uncirculated 53. A rare city for any of its three charters that were active here at various points between 1882 and 1935. The Denton County National Bank (Charter# 4708) was the last of the three National Banks to organize in Denton having done so in 1892. Here the National Bank Note Census records a total of 20 non-institutional pieces out of an entire non-institutional population of 29 notes for all of Denton's three banks. Yet even though this note may represent the "common" charter out of the three that served Denton, this example is nonetheless exceptional in technical and aesthetic terms as reflected by the grade assigned. Stamped signatures attributable to Cashier Berry H. Deavenport and President W.B. McClurkan do well to complement the assigned grade and allow this exact note to stand as a veritable paragon on this community which is better-known in the present as the home of the University of North Texas. Estimate: $1,250 - $1,750. Provenance: From the Jack Copeland Currency Collection, Part IV. Click here for certification details from PCGS Banknote.
