Demetre Chiparus (1886-1947) - Sculpture

D.H. CHIPARUS (1886-1947) - roaring panther in bronze with black patina on Portor marble pedestal, Art Deco, circa 1930 What presence! This panther captured in a feline stretch, mouth open in a roar, exudes an absolutely striking power. The modeling is remarkable: supple musculature, protruding ribs, shoulder folds, carved claws, with a slight hammered effect that catches the light and brings the skin to life. The nuanced black patina has beautiful depth, perfectly homogeneous. The animal rests on a stepped pedestal of black Portor marble with golden veining, whose ochre flows echo the dark silhouette of the big cat. A work of art crafted and signed by a great name of the Art Deco era: DH. Chiparus, known for his chryséléphantines of dancers and his majestic fauves. Typical of the golden age of Art Deco animal sculpture, this piece has real decorative power: placed on a sideboard, a console or a fireplace, it instantly becomes the focal point of the room. A piece of character, elegant and spectacular. Era: circa 1930 Material: Cast metal (Art bronze), pedestal in Portor marble Dimensions: L. 50 cm × D. 16.5 cm × H. 18 cm Signature: DH Chiparus Condition: very good visual condition but presence of two restorations visible in photos: one at the tail and one on the marble pedestal.
