Decorative ornament - Mexico

Splendid and important miniature Mexican hat for collection, made in solid sterling silver 925 in the famous city of Taxco between 1948 and 1979. The item stands out for its generous size (16 cm in diameter) and a substantial weight of no less than 152 grams, markedly higher than the classic souvenir miniatures of the era. The brim is finely relief-engraved with the detailed glyphs of the Aztec Calendar (Sun Stone) and decorated with traditional geometric motifs. The edge is finished with a twisted rope-work and features the classic decorative cord (barbiquejo) in silver resting on the brim. Authenticity stamps on the bottom: Official tax stamp "Eagle 23" (Aquila Nacional Mexicana), identifying the historic workshop of Joaquín Tella / Talleres de los Ballesteros in Taxco. Circular stamp "HECHO EN MEXICO / STERLING". Purity stamp "925". Conditions: Excellent vintage condition. No dents or deep scratches.
