Daniele Fontana (1900-1984) - Ghitarra Vagabonda - Violin Vagabonda

These artworks belongs to a popular thematic series of musicians painted by Fontana, which includes companion pieces such as "Violino vagabondo" (Vagabond Violin) and “Ghitarra vagabonda” (Vagabond Guitar). The artworks appear to be a mixed media painting by Daniele Fontana (Milano, 1900 – Sala Comacina, 1984), an Italian painter, illustrator, and caricaturist trained at the Accademia di Brera who frequently portrayed street performers, clowns, and figures from daily life. Best known for his prolific career as a satirical cartoonist and creator of the iconic "Turreted Woman" (Italia turrita) symbol used by the Italian state, he was also a highly expressive figurative painter. 1. Ghitarra vagabonda!: The piece features a wandering musician (a vagabond or troubadour) dynamically strumming a guitar. It is highly characteristic of Fontana's post-war figurative style, which combined elements of expressionism, social realism, and his background in caricature to depict marginalized or traveling characters (such as musicians, buskers, and clowns) 2. Violin vagabonda!: A stylized, flowing composition of a musician in a wide-brimmed hat playing the violin, accompanied by a small dog at his feet, characteristic of Fontana’s series on buskers and vagabonds (pagliacci e musicanti) The paintings are with original frames, so there are maybe some small scratches, and minimal defects (seen on photos) Measurement: Height 78.5cm x width 42.5cmx depth 2.2cm
