Crusader states

Crusader states, Kingdom of Jerusalem. Henry of Champagne (1192-1197 AD). Pougeoise (Bronze, 15 mm, 0.71 g). Obv: ✠ COMЄS HЄNRICVS. Cross pattée, annulets in four quarters. Rev: ✠ PVGЄS D'ACCON. Fleur-de-lis. Reference: Malloy, Preston & Seltman, Coins of the Crusader States, Jerusalem, types 33-34. The Kingdom of Jerusalem was the foremost Crusader state established after the First Crusade and the capture of Jerusalem in 1099. It developed a Latin Christian monarchy ruling a diverse population across the Levant. After Saladin captured Jerusalem in 1187, the kingdom survived from coastal strongholds such as Acre. It remained a major center of Crusader politics and Mediterranean trade until Acre fell to the Mamluks in 1291.
