Costumbrista scene - Oliver Bruxelles 2009 (Signed) - Belgian School

Descriptio Oil on canvas. In this refined interior scene, two women occupy the foreground in a still, silent composition: one seated casually on a sofa with a relaxed expression and a frontal gaze; the other, playing an electronic keyboard, is captured in profile with her attention focused on her action. The compositional dialogue between the two figures establishes a visual balance accentuated by the chromatic harmony of ochre, earth tones, and warm grays. In the background, a large abstract painting emulating the style of Joan Miró brings a playful and modern dimension to the domestic setting. The soft, diffused light enters from the right, caressing the shapes of the bodies and revealing the textures of the furnishings, such as the white blanket decorated with green lines. The artist’s figurative style denotes a clear influence from the Belgian academic tradition, with echoes of contemporary intimate painting, accentuated by the psychological serenity of the figures and a contemplative atmosphere. Signed "Oliver, Brussels 2009," the work embodies a contemporary and sensitive perspective on the everyday world, combining precise technique, tonal sensitivity, and restrained narrative.
