This colorful lithograph titled “Noord-Holland” is a work by Corneille (1922–2010), one of the co-founders of the CoBrA movement (together with Karel Appel and Constant, among others). His work is characterized by vivid colors, playful forms and recurring themes such as birds, women and exotic landscapes. This lithograph, printed in 2004, is numbered from 200 copies and is in excellent condition. The work has never been framed, which has kept the colors particularly fresh. Corneille’s art remains loved worldwide for its expressive style and optimistic appearance — Overijssel is a beautiful example of his late, mature period in which color and fantasy take center stage.
