In the late 1930s, a variety of Art Deco, known today as "Retro Style" developed, especially from Paris. This new fashion was distinguished by warm gold tones and expansive geometric shapes from the cool diamond and platinum designs that had characterized the decade before. Soon this new style spread throughout the Western world; movie stars like Marlene Dietrich with her legendary ruby bracelet made it famous worldwide. This bracelet also comes from this turbulent and glamorous period. At its center is a large, clear aquamarine of light blue colour weighing 16.00 ct, set in fine milgrains of platinum. A frame of natural pearls, golden foliage and cherry red rubies accompanies it. In the four corners sparkle small diamonds in various historical cuts - a very typical find in such a piece of jewellery of the wartime or immediate post-war period, when the trade chains were interrupted and people often re-set diamonds from heirlooms and old stock. In the past, it was common to make particularly beautifully set, quality gemstones wearable in more than one way. Therefore, even the centerpiece of the bangle can be unhooked and worn as a brooch in seconds with simple manipulations. It is a special type of brooch, a so-called "fur clip" with double needling, originally intended for fur coats and heavier fabrics. This special type of brooch was common in the middle of the 20th century. The unusual, artistically executed and changeable piece of jewellery is very well preserved. It found its way to us from Hamburg. We have had an independent certificate done on the quality of the materials used, which comes with the bangle.
