Toutes les enchères / Musique & Instruments de musique / Collectors! - Ampex Grand Master aluminium reels - 26 cm reels with tape - 1980
A superb collector’s and studio-display bundle featuring four classic Ampex Grand Master 26 cm aluminium reels together with one legendary Ampex 406 26 cm aluminium reel — iconic pieces from the golden era of professional analogue recording. These large-format 10.5-inch (26 cm) metal reels were the standard choice in professional broadcast studios, mastering houses, and serious audiophile setups throughout the 1970s and 1980s. Precision-machined from lightweight aluminium, they combine durability with unmistakable vintage studio aesthetics, making them highly sought-after for both functional reel-to-reel systems and display collections. The Ampex Grand Master series became famous for its smooth tape handling, excellent balance, and association with high-end analogue mastering. The included Ampex 406 reel is particularly desirable, as 406 tape formulation was widely regarded for its warm analogue sound character and professional mastering capability.
