Cypraea mauritiana – Dark Fine +++ Gem Cowrie – Madagascar An exceptional specimen of Cypraea mauritiana from Madagascar, selected for its particularly dark coloration, strong pattern definition and high overall quality. This shell displays a deep glossy background ranging from dark chocolate brown to almost black, densely covered with contrasting cream to beige markings. The pattern is especially rich and well distributed across the dorsum, creating a dramatic and highly decorative appearance. The surface retains the naturally smooth, porcelain-like gloss characteristic of cowries, while the underside shows a broad, elongated aperture bordered by strong, well-defined teeth. Soft grey, brown and caramel tones around the base create an elegant contrast with the much darker dorsal surface. The specimen has a balanced, inflated form and a very attractive overall finish, making it particularly appealing for advanced cowrie collectors.
