Cobalt calcite egg with a contrasting natural pattern

Cobalt calcite egg with a contrasting natural pattern

This extraordinary egg made of cobalt calcite showcases a particularly characterful and varied mineral structure. Delicate pink and rosy tones sweep through the light calcite, forming, together with creamy white, slightly translucent areas, a lively, almost marbled surface. The strong contrast to the deep black to anthracite mineral inclusions is particularly appealing, as these running through the entire egg in bold zones, fine veins, and individual structures. There are also isolated rust-brown and golden-ochre patches that further loosen the color palette. The highly polished finish makes both the different mineral phases and the fine crystal structures stand out very nicely. The egg shape allows the piece to be viewed from ever new perspectives. One side is characterized by larger dark inclusions and strong contrasts, while the other shows clearly more of the gentle pink and white tones of cobalt calcite. It is precisely this irregular distribution that makes the piece especially unique and, despite the fully finished form, preserves a distinctly natural mineral character. Cobalt calcite owes its typical pink to pink coloration to the incorporation of cobalt into the calcite structure. Intensely colored material is accordingly popular with collectors, with pieces showing clearly visible accompanying mineralization additionally appearing through their natural contrast. In crystal healing, cobalt calcite is mainly associated with emotional openness, joy of life, and heart energy. It is attributed a gentle, at the same time uplifting effect that is said to help perceive feelings more consciously and to promote inner balance. An decorative and at the same time mineralogically fascinating individual piece, whose special effect mainly arises from the interplay of delicate pink, light calcite, and the striking dark inclusions.
