Coarse calcite with white and yellow flakes

From our selection of collectible minerals we propose a remarkable aggregate of Calcite crystals from the San Giovanni Mine, Bindua, Iglesias, in Sardinia. Additionally, it is characterized by a botryoidal structure with clustered crystals forming globules and radial tufts, with a strong color contrast between pure white and ochre-yellow shades, as well as the generous size of the specimen, elements that increase its aesthetic value and mineralogical importance. The sample stands out for the quality of crystallization and for the overall aesthetic balance, with features that enhance its natural structure and visual impact. Calcite is the most widespread calcium carbonate (CaCO3) in nature and can assume countless crystal habits; yellowish colors like those of this specimen often derive from iron oxide inclusions or impurities present in the hydrothermal fluids of formation. The San Giovanni Mine, in the Iglesiente mining district, has for centuries been one of the most important lead and zinc extraction centers in Sardinia, and its cavities have yielded numerous Calcite specimens of museum quality as a secondary product of mineralization. This is an ideal specimen for mineralogical collections, display and for those who appreciate the natural beauty of minerals, also in the context of crystal therapy and lithotherapy, according to properties traditionally associated with the mineral species. All minerals are 100% natural and untreated, except for very rare exceptions always indicated in the description. Photographs are taken with professional lighting to best showcase colors and details; however, slight variations in shade may occur depending on the device or ambient light.
