CIRCLE OF JULES BASTIEN-LEPAGE (FRENCH 1848-1884) IN THE MEADOW Oil on canvas 80.5 x 65cm (31½ x 25½in.) Provenance: Sale, Sotheby's, London, Nineteenth Century European Paintings, 4 October 1989, lot 191 The collection of the Comtesse d'Aiguy, Château de Béon (according to label verso) Condition Report: The canvas has not been lined and presents undulations. Small protrusions in the canvas to the lower right corner. Some minor scuffs and abrasions but the paint surface appears to be stable. Inspection under UV reveals a larger area of repair of approximately 10cm to the upper half of the extreme left edge as well as further retouching towards the lower left corner. Some further possible areas of restoration to the smaller child, the lower right corner and scattered across the background. The image presents a layer of surface dirt.
