The company is known for having introduced electroplating (gilding and silvering) in France in 1842. The company was acquired in 2012 by one of its shareholders, the luxury group of the Chalhoub family. The Maison Christofle relies on production that is entirely handmade following traditional techniques. The precious crafts of turning and repoussé, planishing, chasing, engraving, carried on by its Master Silversmiths and Best Craftsmen of France, immortalize the elegance and excellence of all Christofle pieces. It is this irreplaceable human know-how, passed down by highly qualified artisans from master to apprentice, that constitutes Christofle's living heritage. True living treasures.
