The company is known for having introduced electroplating (gilding and silvering) in France in 1842. The company was acquired in 2012 by one of its shareholders, the Chalhoub family luxury group. Maison Christofle relies on production carried out entirely by hand following traditional techniques. The precious crafts of turning and repoussé, planishing, chasing, and engraving, upheld by its Master Silversmiths and Best Craftsmen of France, immortalize the qualities of elegance and excellence of all Christofle pieces. This irreplaceable human know-how is perpetuated by highly skilled artisans.
