The company is known for having introduced electroplating and silver electroplating in France in 1842. The company was acquired in 2012 by one of its shareholders, the luxury group of the Chalhoub family. The House of Christofle relies on production that is entirely handmade according to traditional techniques. The precious crafts of turning, repoussé, planishing, chasing, engraving, which are carried on by its Master Silversmiths and Meilleurs Ouvriers de France, immortalize the elegance and excellence of all Christofle pieces. It is this irreplaceable human know-how, handed down from master to apprentice by highly skilled artisans, that constitutes Christofle's living heritage. True “Living Treasures.”
