Set of 4 lots of manuscripts. 1831 - 1968. 4 lots of French historical and political correspondence 1] France – 19th century – Set of two historical administrative letters from the Ministry of the Navy and the Colonies, dated 1827 and 1883. 1. Letter of March 6, 1827 – Ministry of the Navy and the Colonies Official handwritten letter on letterhead paper from the ministry, issued by the Finance and Supplies Office of the Colonial Administration. Addressed to the Viscount of Castelbajac, Counselor of State and Director General of Customs. This correspondence concerns a commercial and customs operation involving the French embassy in Constantinople and Martinique. Letter bearing the minister of the Navy and the Colonies’ handwritten signature. 2. Letter of August 9, 1883 – Direction of the Colonies. Official handwritten letter on letterhead paper from the Ministry of the Navy and the Colonies, 1st Office of the Direction of the Colonies. Addressed to Mr. Hons-Olivier, 144 Boulevard Saint-Germain, Paris. The mail acknowledges receipt of a complaint directed against Mr. Carin, a civil servant in Martinique. The administration states that it has forwarded this claim to the Governor of Martinique to obtain a detailed report on the matter. The letter is signed by the Deputy Director of the Colonies, acting for the minister and by his order. Two authentic testimonies of the French maritime and colonial administration in the 19th century, illustrating: The commercial and customs relations between France, Constantinople and the Caribbean under the Restoration. The administrative functioning of the Ministry of the Navy and the Colonies under the Third Republic. The handling of complaints and the control of colonial officials in Martinique. Condition report Ancient documents showing archival folds, some creases, light handling traces and a natural patina of the paper. Elegant handwritten scripts, overall well preserved and legible. Set of two original historical pieces, of interest to collectors of administrative documents, maritime history, ministerial correspondence and French colonial history. 2] Set of 6 historical correspondences, accompanied by an ancient envelope, covering several periods of French political life and institutional life. 1. June 15, 1968 – Mission officer to the Prime Minister. Autograph letter on official paper “Prime Minister – The Mission Officer.” Thanks and congratulations addressed to a prefect. Signature to be identified with certainty. 2. August 6, 1968 – Claudius Brosse (1931–2011). Handwritten letter signed, addressed to a prefect, expressing thanks and personal esteem. Name annotation “Claudius Brosse” visible at the top of the document. 3. Beginning of the 20th century – Chamber of Deputies. Autograph letter on official letterhead of the Chamber of Deputies. Personal correspondence mentioning a visit and an appointment. 4. April 16, 1931 – Maurice Sarraut (1869–1943). Typed letter signed on official Senate letterhead, in Toulouse. Addressed to Madame Tabouis, who congratulates the recipient on her work and mentions an article published in La Dépêche. 5. June 3, 1927 – Political correspondence. Autograph letter, written in Versailles, 27 Rue Satory, addressed to a minister. The author mentions an invitation to Bar-le-Duc and their availability. 6. July 3, 1927 – Additional correspondence. Autograph letter from the same hand as the previous one, regarding a meeting at Gare de l’Est and a trip to Bar-le-Duc. Additional document: old envelope on Chamber of Deputies letterhead, addressed to Lucien de la Jonquière, at Verollay (Seine-et-Oise), with a 5-centime Semeuse postage stamp. 3] Three autograph letters from the 19th century (1831–1892) France – 19th century – Lot of 3 handwritten letters – Ministry of Justice, Judiciary and literary correspondence – 1831–1892 1. Letter dated July 26, 1831, addressed to a doctor. It mentions a property, legal heirs, a piece of land and a possible acquisition operation. Cursive writing in brown ink on old paper. Testament to private correspondence and land dealings under the July Monarchy. 2. Ministry of Justice – Letter signed by Delong – 1836 Letter on printed letterhead of the Ministry of Justice – Civil Affairs Directorate, addressed to a correspondent regarding documents intended for Monsieur Étienne. Manuscript signature “Delong,” under the office of Director of Civil Affairs. Administrative document of interest for the history of the judiciary and the functioning of the ministry under Louis-Philippe. 3. Autograph letter – July 1, 1892 Friendly letter mentioning works, a brochure, information and intellectual exchanges. The signature seems to read “Edmond Adam,” A pencil annotation also mentions a name and biographical dates. 4] France – Set of 9 autograph letters and documents from deputies, senators and ministers – 1848-1950 1. Louis-Antoine Garnier-Pagès – August 9, 1848 Autograph letter referring to events in Belgium, the Republican Guard and several military personalities. Signature to be identified with certainty. 2. Office of the Minister of Agriculture and Trade – 1848 Autograph on ministerial letterhead, relating to an invitation and the organization of a meeting. Signature difficult to identify. 3. Senate – January 10, 1912 Autograph letter concerning negotiations and administrative questions related to Algeria. Mention of a senatorial commission. 4. Christian Pineau (1904-1995) – March 30, 1950. Typed letter signed by the Sarthe deputy, future Minister of Foreign Affairs, addressed to François de Vaux de Foletier, chief archivist of Seine and Paris. 5. Maurice Ajam (1861-1944) – June 29, 1928 Autograph letter signed by the senator and former deputy of the Sarthe, mentioning a political campaign and the need to preserve national interest. 6. Chamber of Deputies – December 20, 1924 Autograph letter of thanks on parliamentary official paper. Signature to be confirmed. 7. Chamber of Deputies – February 27, 1925 Autograph letter signed concerning accusations, newspapers and financial questions. Author to identify. 8. Ministry of Finance – First half of the 20th century Autograph letter on official paper of the Minister of Finance, relating to an administrative intervention. Signature to authenticate. 9. M.-L. Bouteville – November 30, year not specified. Autograph letter signed announcing the postponement of a meeting to December 9. Photos are fully part of the description.
