Chinese Qing Dynasty Carved Ivory Figure of Shoulao – Late 19th Century AD A finely carved Chinese ivory figure of Shoulao, the Daoist deity associated with longevity, dating to the final decades of the Qing Dynasty. The standing figure is represented with his characteristic enlarged forehead, long flowing beard and layered robes, holding a peach of immortality in one hand and a tall gnarled staff in the other. The upper section of the staff is elaborately carved in openwork with scrolling cloud forms and auspicious motifs, creating a tall and highly decorative composition. Darkened recessed areas emphasize the intricate carving of the facial features, garments and ornamental details, while the figure is presented on a fitted wooden display stand. Material: Ivory Dimensions: 36 cm Provenance: Acquired in Denmark at an Art Gallery. We guarantee the authenticity of the pieces, backed by the combined experience of our experts spanning more than 40 years. A Certificate of Authenticity (CoA) will be sent digitally by email.
