The Initial Output of Tientsin's East Arsenal Mint CHINA. Chihli (Pei Yang). 7 Mace 2 Candareens (Dollar), Year 22 (1896). Tientsin (East Arsenal) Mint. Kuang-hsu (Guangxu). PCGS Genuine--Harshly Cleaned, AU Details. L&M-439; K-181; KM-Y-65; WS-0603; Wenchao 606 (rarity: ★★★★). With a contemporary customs report mentioning a mintage of just 3,000 pieces, it is clear that the present crown, which represents Chihli's initial output, is undoubtedly RARE and very hard to come by. The early style dragon, with its talon-like claws and imposing head, is instantly identifiable, and with a busy bilingual nature seen upon the characters side. Very lightly cleaned and circulated, with some appealing gunmetal gray hues taking hold. Some subtle peripheral striking weakness is observed, but does not detract from its otherwise stately nature. Estimate: $50,000 - $80,000. Provenance: From the MC Collection (陳氏家族集藏). To view all items from the MC Collection (陳氏家族集藏), click here. Click here for certification details from PCGS. Estimation:€26,671.8
