His work reflects his deep knowledge of the Tingari Cycle and the cultural traditions of the Pintupi people. This painting depicts Palipalintjina, a significant swamp site located just west of Jupiter Well in the Western Desert. The composition illustrates a large central rocky formation surrounded by sandhills, reflecting the distinctive landscape of the region. During the Tjukurrpa (Dreaming), a large group of ancestral Tingari Men travelled from Lake Mackay to Palipalintjina, where they camped before continuing east towards Wala Wala. Their journey forms part of the extensive Tingari Cycle, a network of ancestral stories and songlines connecting significant sites across the Western Desert. The Tingari are ancestral beings who travelled vast distances across Country, performing ceremonies, establishing sacred sites and shaping the landscape. Their journeys are preserved through song, ceremony and painting, forming an important part of the transmission of cultural knowledge between generations. As aspects of the Tingari Cycle are sacred and restricted, the painting reveals only those elements appropriate for public knowledge, reflecting the enduring cultural significance of the site and its ancestral narratives. © CHARLIE TJAPANGARTI / Copyright Agency, 2026
