Professional heavy cooler from the 1930s, featuring richly worked handles in the form of grapevines and an embossed tin plaque with the text: "Champagne CHARLES HEIDSIECK Reims". Charles Heidsieck is a champagne house founded in 1851 and based in Reims; Charles Heidsieck was the son of Charles-Henri Heidsieck. This cooler is stamped on the bottom by the maker: "ARGIT, Paris Modele Déposé". Argit is an authority on champagne cooler design and supplies virtually all of the grande houses. A handsome piece in particularly good and fresh condition (see photos). Completely re-polished, both inside and outside, but with its character preserved!
