Curved-wood Savonarola chair with a fluid closing motion. Called "icasse" because of its X-shaped construction, probably inspired by Romanesque design, used mainly in noble residences. The term Savonarola derives from the name Girolamo Savonarola (1452-1498), to whom this type of chair would date, preserved in his cell at the San Marco convent in Florence, where he lived from 1482 until his death. It is equipped with pins that allow it to fold and be stored in tight spaces and with a backrest that can be locked into place. The latter is finely carved and the ends of the armrests feature lion heads. In the last two photos you can see the small defects present.
