IDENTIFICATION 1.1. Prudent signature and cataloguing The work is signed “E. Deu” in the lower right corner. In the absence of additional documentation allowing a secure link between the signature and a specific artist, it is catalogued prudently as a Catalan School of the second half of the 20th century. 1.2. Title and subsequent inscription The reverse preserves the inscription “Cavall Pasturant – Vidrà,” which allows identifying the subject as a grazing horse and linking the scene to Vidrà’s rural landscape. This note adds a territorial and emotionally meaningful dimension to the painting. ARTISTIC DESCRIPTION 2.1. The horse as the center of the scene The animal is depicted in a moment of calm, with the head inclined toward the grass. Its sturdy, nearby presence organizes the composition and creates a direct dialogue with the viewer. 2.2. Matter, color and landscape The brushstroke is frank, thick, and highly expressive. Greens, yellows, blues, and earth tones intertwine to build a luminous landscape, where the masses of vegetation and the flowers introduce depth and chromatic vibrancy. STYLE, SCHOOL AND CONTEXT 3.1. Catalan rural landscape The work sits within a sensibility linked to Catalan landscape painting of the second half of the 20th century, interested in rural life, mountains, and animals as natural, nearby presences. 3.2. A free and matieric gaze It does not aim for an exact topographic description, but rather the evocation of a place and a light. The painting’s strength lies in its material quality, the synthesis of forms, and the straightforward way it resolves the horse and the fields. CONDITION REPORT 4.1. Painterly surface The painting is in generally acceptable condition. Textural materiality, small irregularities, and slight signs of age or handling are visible in the photographs. No documentary information is available about possible previous interventions. 4.2. Frame and reverse The frame shows light signs of use typical of its age and handling. The reverse retains old presentation ribbons and handwritten annotations visible in the images. GUARANTEE, TRANSPARENCY AND SHIPPING 5.1. Clear cataloguing The work is offered as a Catalan School of the second half of the 20th century, signed “E. Deu.” It is not attributed to an identified artist without sufficient documentation to support it. 5.2. Photographs and frame The photographs, measurements, and description are an essential part of the cataloguing. The frame is included as a courtesy and no claims will be accepted regarding its condition, age, fragility, alterations, or decorative suitability. 5.3. Packaging and international transport The gallery works with a professional packaging company, custom protection and foam, with insured international shipping. Any surcharges for destinations outside Euro zones 1 and 2, islands, remote areas, high-rate destinations, non-EU destinations, or special logistical circumstances will be borne by the buyer. CONTEMPLATION 6.1. The serenity of the pasture The horse appears uninvolved by any drama. The scene conveys simple quietness: grass, light, vegetation and an animal that inhabits the landscape naturally. 6.2. A painting with warm presence It is a work especially pleasant to live with. The impasto, the intensity of the greens, and the warm notes of the animal offer a lively and friendly presence, without losing the intimate character of a rural scene.
