Autographed note by Caran d'Ache (Emmanuel Poiré, 1858-1909), a famous French cartoonist, caricaturist and illustrator of the Belle Époque. Original manuscript on paper bearing the printed address « 11, avenue d'Eylau ». The note, written in Caran d'Ache's highly recognizable handwriting, is a personal message of thanks. It ends with his signature « Caran d'Ache ». Caran d'Ache, the pseudonym of Emmanuel Poiré, was one of the great humorous illustrators of the late 19th century. He contributed notably to Le Chat Noir, Le Figaro, and various illustrated newspapers, and today is regarded as one of the forerunners of modern comics for his famous “wordless stories.”
