Ursin (1797–1849). His wife Helene Elisabeth Ursin (née de Thurah) (1797–1876) (1872). Their son, chief engineer in the navy Lars Herman Ursin (1824–1907) (1898). Thereafter inherited in the family. G. F. Ursin was the current owner’s great-great-great-grandfather. Georg Frederik Ursin (1797–1849) was a mathematician and astronomer and, from 1827, Professor of Mathematics at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts. He was also an observer at the Copenhagen Observatory and an important populariser of the mathematical and astronomical knowledge of his time. It was precisely his scientific expertise that brought him into close contact with C. W. Eckersberg, and their collaboration proved of decisive importance to Eckersberg’s work on the theory of perspective. In the spring of 1833, Eckersberg asked Ursin to review the manuscript of his first treatise on perspective, "Forsög til en Veiledning i Anvendelsen af Perspektivlæren for unge Malere" (An Attempt at a Guide to the Use of Perspective for Young Painters). In his diary, on 18 April 1833, he noted (in Danish): “This evening Ursin came to go through with me the little piece on Perspective.” Their collaboration continued and was later developed further in connection with "Linearperspectiven, anvendt på Malerkunsten" (Linear Perspective Applied to the Art of Painting), published in 1841. Ursin’s mathematical expertise helped Eckersberg systematise the theory of perspective, which came to occupy a central place in his teaching and artistic thinking.
