Brigitte Demange (1961) - La Tomate

Brigitte DEMANGE (1961) (listed Akoun) Still Life Hyper-Macro: "The Tomato" (2008) This vibrant oil on canvas is an original work by the French artist Brigitte Demange, dated 2008. It offers a decidedly modern, bold, and graphic approach to traditional still life. The artist opts for a tight macro-style framing, isolating a ripe tomato that dominates almost the entire pictorial space. The technical treatment already demonstrates a mastery of texture and light that will define the artist’s reputation: she plays with vertical yellow-white light reflections that accentuate volume, freshness, and substance. The color palette is dominated by an intense, dynamic carmine red, magnificently contrasted with the bright and textured green of the stem. The background, a very dark violet-black brushed texture, makes the fruit’s brightness pop in the foreground. This square-format work of 50 x 50 cm fully aligns with the Culinary Pop Art trend and contemporary realism. A highly decorative collectible piece.
