Sterling silver box .925 - a noble piece, finely crafted. The central element on the lid is a classic representation of a "Green Man" (Green Man) or a grotesque mask, a motif common in European decorative arts. The box features embossed and chased work (finely detailed highlights at the front) of high quality. The scroll patterns, acanthus leaves, and floral motifs are very typical of the historicist style that sought to emulate the opulence of previous centuries. The box combines a wooden structure (visible on the interior) with a silver exterior plating, which is very common in jewelry boxes or writing desk boxes of the Victorian era.
