Toutes les enchères / Monnaies & billets de collection / Boston, Massachusetts. Hide & Leather Bank. 1862 $1. PCGS Currency

Boston, Massachusetts. Hide & Leather Bank. 1862 $1. PCGS Currency Very Fine 20 Apparent. Repaired Edge Split at Top & Bottom Center. No. 6563. Plate B. A rarity from Boston dating to the 1860s. Bidders have here for their consideration an evenly circulated obligation of the Hide & Leather Bank of Boston which stands as a rare prospect for issued notes. Here signs of even circulation may be observed alongside the penned signatures of Cashier John S. March and President Daniel Harwood making this a veritable trophy among a population where surviving notes in issued form are considered great rarities owing to the redemption campaigns of the 1860s. This institution ultimately became the National Hide and Leather Bank of Boston (Charter# 460) in 1864. PCGS Currency comments "Repaired Edge Split at Top & Bottom Center." Estimate: $800 - $1,200. Provenance: From the Caine Collection.
