Colourful Antique Toucan Bookends – Decorative Pair on Green Bases – 1920/1940 Bring tropical colour and personality to your book collection with this expressive pair of toucan bookends. Facing one another, the birds display striking orange-yellow bills, cream throats and dark, textured plumage. Their green supports provide a lively contrast, making this pair an eye-catching addition to your interior. Each toucan is perched on a painted tree stump. Detailed claws, long tails and sculpted feathers reward a closer look. The painted finish and timeworn appearance give them character, whether framing your favourite books or displayed as part of an animal collection. **Tropical Charm with Practical Appeal** Position the flat green supports directly against the outer covers of the first and last books. Four or five books make an attractive arrangement — more books can, of course, be placed between them. Nature books, travel stories and bird guides complement the subject beautifully. On a desk, in a traditional library or against light contemporary furniture, these toucans add colour and personality. Their distinctive silhouettes make them an appealing decorative feature even when viewed from across the room. A thoughtful gift for a book lover, bird enthusiast or collector of unusual bookends — and a charming way to give a treasured book collection its own character. **Inspired by a Remarkable Bird** Their design evokes the toco toucan, recognisable by its large orange bill, dark plumage and pale throat. This South American bird provides the inspiration for an attractive display with tropical plants, botanical prints and natural materials. The vivid bills, contrasting plumage and green bases create a balanced composition that feels equally at home in a classic study, a colourful living room or a contemporary reading corner. **Object Details** - **Item:** a pair of toucan bookends. - **Stated dimensions:** 24 × 8 × 15 cm — length × width × height. - **Colours:** black, cream, orange and yellow, with green supports and pink-brown stump perches. - **Finish:** handpainted - **Condition:** please refer to the original photographs for the finish and visible marks. **Photographs Form Part of the Description** The lifestyle images are provided for illustration and show possible display settings.
