Elegant Pair of French Art Deco Bookends (Serre-Livres) – c. 1930 A beautiful and highly dynamic pair of authentic Art Deco bookends featuring stylized leaping animals (horses/gazelles). This classic French set perfectly captures the energy, speed, and geometric aesthetics of the 1920s–1930s Art Deco era. • Design & Figures: The sculptures showcase stylized rearing figures with finely detailed, structured manes. The design evokes the signature look of famous French animalier artists of the period. • Materials: The figures are expertly cast in spelter (French: régule), finished with an elegant dark-brown/black patina that shows a soft metallic and iridescent luster under the light. • Bases: Each sculpture is securely mounted on a solid, polished rectangular block of natural marble in a warm cream/soft pinkish-beige tone with subtle grey and brown veining.
