Bonbon basket - cup - Glass - Cobalt blue glass coupe

A splendid, heavy crystal bonbonnière / coupe on a foot, made of layered cobalt blue and clear crystal (Überfangglas). This bowl was handmade and mouth-blown halfway through the previous century (the 1950s/60s) and hand-cut, presumably in the traditional glassmaking regions of Czecho-Slovakia (Bohemia). The glassware is decorated with the classic cut pattern of stars (starburst) and geometric olive cuts. The edge is beautifully scalloped, finished like a lotus flower, resting on an elegant, solid baluster foot. The bowl is authentically mouth-blown, which is subtly recognizable by the minuscule, enclosed air bubbles in the glass.
